The First step in stoping popups... well the only one needed really, is to use this free browser. It has a built in popup stopper, as well as the ability to completly modify it. It is the smallest full featured browser out there. (As a side note, you can go to (here) and download AD Blocker from the FireFox extensions list. It allows you to block the sites that send ads! I have not seen a banner in over three months now, thanks to this!)

This is one of my most used programs. It searches your system and finds spyware, programs hackers use to control your computer, and adware, programs or cookies that allow people to moniter your activities and send you popups based on where you go. Many strange things, such as changed homepages, unknown programs, and so forth are changed by spyware and adware, and some can even destroy your computer or attack your system. This is almost a necessary program for computer safety, so thank goodness its free.

This is almost as important as Spybot search and destroy. Altho Spybot finds most of those ads and bots, Ad-Aware finds the rest. The pro-version costs money, but the basic version works fine.

VLC is not important for your safety, but you will never regret this one. It is a DVD player, but unlike those others that cost about 50-70 dollers, this one is FREE, and while it doesnt look like much, It plays all DVD's regardless of what region they are. That means if you have a movie from Japan, you can now watch it! Other players that do the same thing can cost up to , so download this before the RIAA trys to styfle innovation once again.

This program does everything that Microsoft Office does, except that it is free. ^_^ Gotta like that.

Irfanview does EVERYTHING that gimp shop doesnt. You got to try it to see why I consider this a MUST HAVE.

I love this! Normally Windows uses a program called "explorer" to connect the user to the information... like the startbar, right click menus and so forth. Are you tired of going through the start menus? This Windows skin uses less memory to run than the one which windows provide, so it helps the system, and if your slightly tech savvy you can alter the whole look. If not, you can go back online and download all kinds of cool looking setups. Also, even with my small budget, I bought this! It is worth it, but the free trial is cool. It wont mess anything else up in your system, so give it a shot.

trillian allows you talk to anyone using Aim, MSN, ICQ, IRC, or Yahoo instant messengers. The basic version is free, it has no ads, and it is so fun to use.
